In the book of Mark 2:22 Jesus leaves us a metaphor of instruction,
“No one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined”.
The metaphor was speaking to the new teachings of Jesus could not be forced into the old structures or mindsets of the existing Christian traditions, it requires a new vessel to hold the rich liquid of this new way of life.
I’ve personified this metaphor into my own experience, not having a biblical predisposition, but having a non Christian way of life that I laid down to walk with Jesus.
Just like this metaphor, I have come to terms with no longer being able to fit my old self into my new way of living that is Christ centred. That meant discarding old habits, ways of thinking, sometimes even associations. The transformation wasn’t easy but every single thing I have shed has been a weight off shoulders, bringing lightness to my step.
I pray my lessons and observations may be of use to your walk with Christ or to finding Jesus and bringing revelation to your life as well
